Whole lot of Green Infrastructure Innovation Going on


There is an awful lot of innovative green infrastructure to see in Toledo. Engineers and designers have been busy. Join this tour to improve how we handle stormwater and improve water quality. 

Elected officials and civic administrators: learn what design engineers are proposing for new strategies for green infrastructure. Engineers and architects: Hear from others who have addressed practical problems of construction and maintenance and see how these structures have improved water quality and aesthetics in urban areas.

Commentary from area experts including:
DGL Consulting Engineers, Edge Group, Tetra Tech, the City of Toledo, Mannik & Smith Group, and Ohio EPA.

Location / Credits
The tour will leave from Toledo Environmental Services building (348 S Erie St., Toledo, free parking in building lot and on streets nearby) and stop at seven green infrastructure sites. Box lunch will be provided. Professional development credits for PEs. 

HIGHLIGHTED SITES
·         Hensville Green Space – green infrastructure incorporated in a highly urbanized area
·         Toledo Botanical Garden - dam removal and hydrologic restoration in a large project managed by TMACOG
·         Cullen Park – A large-scale stormwater wetland that manages stormwater from a neighborhood at the mouth of the Maumee River.
·         Street and parking lot retrofits including the Toledo Zoo, Maywood Avenue, and the Zepf Center downtown.

Fee / Lunch
